Caroline Maxwell was born November 1, 1974 near the intersection of Fountain and Vermont in Hollywood, California. She comes from a family of engineers and artists. Her mother, a singer, was said to resemble Julie Andrews, and her father has never forgotten the German or chemistry tables he learned in high school. Her more distant relatives include farmers, scientists, a magician, a vaudeville actor, schoolteachers, painters and mechanics; they were outlaw Quakers, fought in the U.S. Civil War, fell overboard the Mayflower, and were buried in Spy Hill, Canada.
